Hello from our CEO

I am delighted to be part of the Safety Centre Hazard Alley team where we are truly making life-saving interventions every day. I joined in September 2025, but I was no stranger to Hazard Alley given that I was amongst the first schools to have visited when we opened in 1994. Some 30+ years later, it is the most incredible feeling to see my own children and thousands more every month benefitting from a charity which has remained dedicated to giving children the tools to keep themselves and others safe – not just now, but these key skills are relevant for life.

I take this opportunity to thank all the schools who continue to share the positive value our interventions bring to students – quite often telling us that this is not only the children’s favourite school trip, but also the teachers’ favourite! And without the support of our dedicated staff, trustees and team of 40+ incredible volunteers, we simply couldn’t deliver the impact we achieve each year as such a small charity.

Moreover, we rely on the generous support of our funders to subsidise the cost of every child’s visit by 50% or more, and our school outreach programmes on knife crime intervention and violence against women and girls. We’re grateful for the continued support of Bucks Fire and Rescue, MK Community Foundation, Milton Keynes Council, Buckinghamshire Council and National Grid, over the past year, new support from Garfield Weston Foundation, The Wixamtree Trust and Electrical Safety First.

I welcome the opportunity to meet and invite new prospective partners who have a shared mission to empower children with the knowledge and confidence to prevent the preventable so please reach out – I look forward to meeting you.
