12 Hour Paediatric Course

This course focuses on equipping candidates with the skills and knowledge to effectively deal with emergency scenarios involving infants and children. This training is suitable for teachers, school support staff, nannies, childminders and playgroup leaders.

This course is currently being run as a blended learning package. This means that day 1 of the course will be remote online learning, whilst day 2 will be face to face training at our centre. Candidates will need to successfully complete the online section before they can attend the face to face training.

Course Content

  • Role and responsibility of a First Aider
  • Incident Management
  • Provide first aid to an infant/child who is unconscious
  • Provide first aid to an infant/child requiring CPR
  • Management of an infant/child having a seizure
  • Recognise and assist when an infant/child is choking
  • Manage an infant/child with external bleeding
  • Manage an infant/child in shock
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child in anaphylactic shock
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child suffering from electric shock
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with burns and scalds

  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with suspected fracture or dislocation
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with a head, neck or back injury
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with poisoning
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with a foreign body in their eyes, ears or nose
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with an eye injury
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child who has been bitten or stung
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child who is suffering from extreme heat or cold
  • Provide first aid for an infant/child with a chronic medical condition ( such as diabetes or meningitis)
